# Fertilizer : How it Works

{% hint style="success" %}
Fertilizer determines how much a player collects in rent compared to other plot share co-owners
{% endhint %}

### Fertilizer Gain :

Players gain fertilizer by moving. Each roll of the dice has a 50% chance to earn, 5 to 25 fertilizer to each plot share. Plot shares have a max fertilizer of 250. If a plot is at max fertilizer 'overage' is not applied to plots that are not maxed.

Even if multiple players own the same plot, the player with **more fertilizer earns a larger portion of the rent**.

### Fertilizer Decay :

Fertilizer decay effects all plot shares, simultaneously, every 8 hours.\
(Decays occur at 0600, 1400, 2200)\
\
Fertilizer base decay it 5 to 7 points and increases intensity as you obtain more plots.\
1 share = 5 to 7
\
5 shares = 13 to 15
\
10 shares = 23 to 25

### Fertilizer x Rent

Rent Distribution is calculated as (Player Fertilizer ÷ Total Fertilizer)

### Rent Distribution Example by Fertilizer

| Player | Player Fertilizer / Total Fertilizer | Share of Rent |
| -------- | ------------------------------------ | ------------- |
| Player 1 | 250 / 310                            | 80.65%        |
| Player 2 | 50 / 310                             | 16.13%        |
| Player 3 | 10 / 310                             | 3.23%         |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://plowed-earth.gitbook.io/plowed-earth-docs/the-game/fertilizer-how-it-works.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
